LeAnn Luna joined the faculty in 2005 and currently teaches federal income taxation. She holds a dual appointment as an assistant professor with the Department of Accounting and Information Management and as a researcher with the Center for Economic and Business Research. Dr. Luna is the first accounting professor to hold an appointment with the Center. Her primary research interest is state and local tax policy with a focus on sales and use taxes, the state corporate income tax, and tax competition between state and local governments. In addition, her current research on §529 college savings plans has received national attention. Dr. Luna has published in journals including, Journal of the American Taxation Association, National Tax Journal, Journal of State Taxation, and Public Finance Review. Dr. Luna is a CPA and received a B.B.A. in accounting from Southern Methodist University, a Master of Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law, and her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. Earlier in her career, Dr. Luna amassed nearly a decade of corporate experience that included senior positions with an international accounting firm and private industry.
